Getting Started with Custom Navy Coins
Custom navy coins carry the identity of a ship, a submarine, an aviation squadron, a shore command or a chief’s mess. They mark a change of command, a deployment, a qualification, a retirement or a port visit, and they stay with the sailor long after the tour ends.
Order from 20 pieces per design. Every order includes free digital proofs with unlimited revisions, and production takes 2–3 weeks once you approve the proof.

Different Styles of Navy Coins
Navy coin designs usually start with something the command already owns — a hull number, a ship’s crest, an anchor, a rating badge or a command emblem. Deployment dates, hull numbers and short mottos are often set around the rim so the coin points at one specific cruise.
MZIHO can produce classic round coins as well as custom shapes, cutouts and functional designs. Available details include 2D or 3D relief, recessed textures, antique or high-polish finishes, dual plating, colour enamel and decorative edges.
Custom Shapes and Cutouts
A navy coin does not have to be round. Hexagons, ovals, shields and ship silhouettes all work as coin shapes, and cut-through areas let an anchor or hull number read at a glance. Shaped coins use the same 20-piece minimum as round ones.
Anchors, Rope Edges and Enamel Colour
Rope edges and anchor motifs are the most recognisable navy details, and both are included in the price. Antique or high-polish plating sets the tone, while colour enamel keeps crests, ribbons and hull numbers readable at coin size.
Frequently Asked Questions
Key details on artwork, coin options, packaging and ordering custom challenge coins from MZIHO.What artwork file formats do you accept?
We accept AI, EPS, PDF, SVG, PNG, JPG and other common artwork files. Vector files are preferred because they provide cleaner lines and more accurate production results.
How do I submit artwork for both sides of a coin?
Upload your front-side artwork and use the optional back-side artwork upload for the reverse design. If the two sides use different details, labels or finishes, include them clearly in your order notes.
Will small text and fine details work?
Very small text and thin lines may need adjustment for clear production. We will identify any concerns during proofing and suggest practical changes before production begins.
What challenge coin size should I choose?
Coin size is measured by its diameter. Smaller coins suit simple emblems, while larger sizes allow more room for text, detailed artwork and 3D elements. Choose the size that best fits your design on the product page.
What is the difference between coin edge options?
A flat edge offers a clean traditional look. Rope, oblique, reeded and petal edges add raised detail and a more decorative finish. The available edge options are displayed on the product page.
Can I choose the metal finish?
Yes. Available finishes include gold, nickel, black nickel, antique gold, antique silver and antique copper. Select the finish that best complements your artwork and style.
Can I order multiple coin designs together?
Yes, but each design is treated as a separate custom item because its artwork, size, edge and production requirements can vary. Add each design to the cart as its own line item.
What packaging options are available?
Every order includes a protective sleeve at no extra cost. You can upgrade to a clear display box at $1.50 each or a velvet presentation box at $3.99 each — choose your packaging when you configure your order.
Is an event date or delivery deadline required?
No. The event date or deadline is optional. Add it only when you have a specific date in mind, and our team will review whether the requested schedule is feasible before production begins.
