Getting Started with Custom Army Coins

Custom army coins are made for units, commands, training classes, ROTC programs and veteran organisations. They recognise outstanding performance, mark a promotion or retirement, commemorate a deployment, welcome new soldiers, and carry the story of a mission long after it ends.

Different styles of custom army challenge coins

Different Styles of Army Coins

Army coin designs usually build on something the unit already owns — a distinctive unit insignia, a battalion crest, rank chevrons, a mascot or a motto. Deployment dates, call signs and short unit mottos are often added around the edge so the coin points at one specific moment.

MZIHO can produce classic round coins as well as custom shapes, cutouts and functional designs. Available details include 2D or 3D relief, recessed textures, antique or high-polish finishes, dual plating, colour enamel and decorative edges.

Custom Shapes and Cutouts

An army coin does not have to be round. Crossed bayonets, shields, arrowheads, unit silhouettes and cut-through areas all work as coin shapes, and they make a unit crest read instantly. Shaped coins use the same 20-piece minimum as round ones.

Antique Finishes and Enamel Colour

Antique gold, silver, copper and bronze give an army coin a weathered, earned look, while colour enamel keeps unit crests, chevrons and flags readable. Both can be combined on the same coin, and every finish is included in the price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Key details on artwork, coin options, packaging and ordering custom challenge coins from MZIHO.
What artwork file formats do you accept?

We accept AI, EPS, PDF, SVG, PNG, JPG and other common artwork files. Vector files are preferred because they provide cleaner lines and more accurate production results.

How do I submit artwork for both sides of a coin?

Upload your front-side artwork and use the optional back-side artwork upload for the reverse design. If the two sides use different details, labels or finishes, include them clearly in your order notes.

Will small text and fine details work?

Very small text and thin lines may need adjustment for clear production. We will identify any concerns during proofing and suggest practical changes before production begins.
