The Cafecito 5K took place on 3 November 2024 at Haulover Park & Marina in Miami — its third year. The name means “little coffee” in Spanish, a nod to Miami’s Cuban heritage, and finishers get a shot of Cuban-style coffee at the end.
The organisers wanted the medal to feel just as local. So we built it around their mascot: a cartoon coffee pot, cut to shape, with palm trees and the event’s blue-and-yellow colours.
Why a shaped medal works for a 5K
Most people running a 5K aren’t chasing times — they’re there for the fun, the coffee and the photos. A medal shaped like the mascot is instantly shareable, and you can see that in the pictures: runners holding it up to the camera all over the park.
