An event organiser in Argentina contacted us in February for their June trail run. Ordering from the other side of the world, they wanted two things: a great medal and to know what was happening at every step.
The timeline
- 12 March — Order confirmed.
- 13 March — 2D design approved, within 24 hours.
- 16 March — 3D model finished.
- 24 March — Die-casting done.
- 28 March — Plating done.
- 31 March — UV colour printing approved.
- 8 April — Final check; shipped.
Finishing in early April for a June race gave the client a two-month buffer.
No “black box”
The worst part of ordering from overseas is paying and then hearing nothing. For this order, photos and short videos went out at each stage — from raw castings to finished colour — so there were no surprises when the box was opened.
Race day
The medal is shaped like a mountain arrowhead, with 3D relief of the trail and bold “RT” lettering. The client sent back photos of runners at the finish line holding it up.
Beyond the medal
Trail events often add embroidered patches for packs and metal keychains for entrants.
