Custom Die Struck Pins
A die struck pin is stamped from a single piece of metal, and the design is the metal itself: raised surfaces catch the light, recessed ones hold shadow. Most die struck pins are left bare, which is why they read as formal rather than bright — and with no printed layer, there is nothing to fade or peel.
It suits crests and seals, service and anniversary pins, and membership awards. Colour is optional rather than absent: we can fill a few chosen areas — a logo, a name banner, a date — and leave the rest as bare metal, which keeps the formal look while making one element stand out. If instead you want colour across the whole design, order soft enamel pins — same struck metal base, with every recess filled.
Details
- Minimum Order Quantity: 25 units per design.
- Material: depending on the shape, our custom die struck lapel pins are created using either iron or zinc alloy.
- Plating: six finishes included at no extra cost — antique or high-polish in gold, silver and copper, plus dual-plating. Choose yours in the cart.
- Partial colour: optional. Tell us in the order notes which areas you want filled and we will show it on your free digital proof before anything is made.
- Extras: you can choose custom back stamps, backer cards, or laser engraving from the cart page.
Artwork
- File Type: we can use any format but prefer vector files when possible.
- What works best: contrast comes from raised against recessed metal, so bold shapes and even line weights read clearly, while hairline detail and very small text tend to fill in. If one element has to stand out, that is the one to pick out in colour.

Why Choose Custom Die Struck Pins?
A die struck pin has no printed layer and no coating to wear through. The design is pressed straight into the metal, so the detail you see is the shape of the metal itself — raised areas polished, recessed areas holding shadow. That is why service awards, membership pins and institutional seals are still made this way decades after the technique was invented.
It is also the most restrained option we make. If you want colour across the whole design, soft enamel pins start from the same struck base and fill every recess. Die struck sits at the other end: mostly bare metal, with colour only where you decide it earns its place.
Frequently asked questions

Die struck pins are made to mark something that already happened — years given, a goal reached, a place worth remembering. Bare metal ages well, which is why these end up kept rather than worn once.
